World map
For a long time I wanted to have a world map on the website that would show the countries that I've visited. The 2025 redesign of the website finally offered the opportunity to include it.
The website now and then
The Waar is Frank? website was running happily in the cloud since 2010 without a major software upgrade. When in 2025 the service level offered by the hosting provider was reaching a new low and people started complaining about its appearance on phones, it was time to modernize the website. And to investigate how it should be designed given the available technology. The result: quite different than in 2010.
The project architecture
The [redesign](Website now and then.md) of the Waar is Frank? website made me realize that the architecture of a publish-only website in 2025 can be quite different from the default website design template of webserver plus database. The redesign of the software for this project was combined with the migration/creation of a few other personal websites, all following the same template. But this project was the most complex one.
